The DailyCity’s Pop Up Shop

Have you guys checked out THE Orlando shopping event of the year yet?? It’s the DailyCity’s Pop Up Shop where local Orlando creatives get to sell and show off their products. There are vintage women and men’s clothing, food, baking/cooking tools, accessories, books, and a freakin’ shuffle board in the middle of the store! It is probably the most fun I’ve had shopping in a long time. And if you haven’t gone yet you better stop reading this and run over there as fast as you can because today is the last day! This is NOT a drill people, GO! GO! Plus, there will be fun workshops going on all day!

The Starry Knight Necklace by Nikki Reed and 7 for all Mankind

Intriguing, edgy, and beautiful – that’s how I describe the Starry Knight Necklace and coincidently, how I would describe the designer. I asked Nikki Reed about her collection and she was beaming with pride when she explained that each piece was her vision, was meaningful to her, and she did all the sketches. Who wouldn’t be proud??

Nikki revealed that the Starry Knight Necklace was the missing piece in her closet. Recently, she’s been recording music with her husband (a mix of country and folkloric) and her outfits have been inspired by this new creative outlet. However, she noticed that her big flashy statement necklaces didn’t go well with her collared, down-to-earth blouses. Enter the Starry Knight Necklace:

7 For all Mankind Launch with Nikki Reed

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Grand Opening of the 7 for all Mankind store at The Mall at Millenia with their special event featuring the new jewelry line by actress/singer/designer Nikki Reed. The store, as you can imagine, was perfect in every way. The clothes were bright, fresh, and crisply folded and presented. It was like every item in the store was eager to show off for the grand opening. The drinks were fancy and the tunes were tight; pretty amazing shopping experience.

Florida Designers at Life’s a Label Fashion Show

Happy Holidays from IFF! Has it been as crazy a holiday for you as it has been for me? Well, I’m just glad to get back to what’s important…blogging! I have a couple of posts I’ve been excited to share so let’s get this party started…

Part of the fun of getting to know Orlando and growing this blog is being able to meet and see the work of local fashion designers. It’s impossible to not be inspired by people who have a deep love and passion for fashion as an art form. I recently experienced this excitement for fashion at Life’s a Label Fashion Show produced by Welcome Home Entertainment, which features local up and coming Florida designers. It was great to see how the designers embodied Florida style but added their own twist and flavor. But as the saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words” so I will leave you with some of my favorite looks from the event. There was a lot of great local talent at the show and I will be featuring them on future posts.

My airport oasis: Mango

Mickey Mouse ears, screaming children, and large crowds. No, it’s not Disney World.  It’s the Orlando International Airport. I am acutely aware of the environment at this airport because I visit it more than I visit my own parents. For my day job, I get the pleasure (and stress) of traveling all over the United States and at times it can be several times a month. So, it’s fair to say that I’m pretty familiar with this airport. Due to my constant visits and wait times, I’ve perused (more than once) the shopping center found before you reach the security line. Come on; don’t act like you wouldn’t either! Usually, I’m underwhelmed (to say the least) at the stores at the airport. They are good enough to pass the time but rarely do I dish out money to purchase anything. The mood to shop quickly disappears when I’m dealing with lost tourists, luggage, and annoyed sales associates. Well, on my most recent trip I saw an oasis, right in the middle of the airport. As I passed by the crowds checking their flights on the screen, I saw a sign from the corner of my eye…GASP! Could it be? A Mango store in Orlando!! Eeek!!

I rushed over to make sure this wasn’t just an illusion. My heavy laptop and big coats didn’t slow me down and I just kept saying, “it’s not a mirage…it’s not a mirage.” It wasn’t! There it was in all its glory! Oddly enough, there were no large crowds, no lost tourists, and no screaming children. It truly was an oasis. The sales associates were welcoming with their warm smiles and the clothes sparkled under the decorative lights. It’s official, Mango has returned to Orlando. Obviously, I purchased a few goodies so stay tuned to see how I styled some of their amazing spring pieces!!

CFL Blog Con Meet Up: Networking in Hot Pink Heels

(Photo Courtesy of Bess Auer. This is me ---------------------->)

On Tuesday, I had the great pleasure of attending the Central Florida Bloggers Conference Tweet Up. The tweet up is a meet and mingle for bloggers in the Central Florida area. Bloggers can meet up with old friends and newbies get to learn from the pros.  More importantly, it's an excuse for me to meet the fabulous fashionistas behind some of my favorite blogs.

Rusty Train and Hot Pink

This is my -okay, it’s not that cold in Orlando but I’m still going to wear a scarf and jacket- outfit. I was obsessed with this romper all summer because it is so comfortable and can be easily worn during the day and glammed up at night. However, I have to admit that mid photo shoot I got hot and had to peel it all off.  Regardless, I have no intentions of breaking my relationship with it this fall, especially since I love it even more now with the scarf and jacket addition.
