4 Beauty Products I Regret Buying

Have I ever mentioned just how much I love taking trips to beauty stores? It’s like Christmas day, except for the fact that I’m buying myself gifts. The only thing that can sour this magical event is getting home and un-wrapping my gift to find a toy that just doesn’t work right. I’m sure you’ve also encountered this once or twice and that’s why I wanted to write this post. Before I give up hope on these products, I wanted to reach out to you guys and get your opinion. Have you tried these? Do you have any thoughts?

1. Yes to Tomatoes clear skin daily balancing moisturizer: As a girl constantly fighting oily and red skin, I was on board when I read the description of clear, calm, and gorgeous skin. However, it was apparent that my skin was not interested in participating in this change. In fact, the moisturizer actually made my face greasier than if I didn’t wear it at all! Also, why does it have a weird cinnamon scent? Last thing I need is an all day reminder that I want to eat a cinnamon bun.

2. Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara: Let me start by saying that I am a big Smashbox fan. Their primers are the best thing a girl can ask for. So why not try out their $22 mascara? I’ll tell you why – because the $5 CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume mascara is cheaper, better, and lasts longer. I haven’t completely given up on their mascara but I’m not sure which one to try next. Any recommendations?

3. Victoria’s Secret lipgloss palette: Almost every day I wear my Victoria’s Secret Mosaic Blush Afterglow so it’s no surprise that I wanted to expand my make-up collection to include a pretty assortment of lip glosses. The only problem was that the product was so sticky that I worried about going outside and getting every fly, grass, or random dirt stuck to my lips. I’m thinking that’s not the sexiest look so I’ve had to let go of that palette.

4. NARS Oil Free Foundation: I am in the never-ending hunt for a liquid foundation that will last all day for oily skin. I tried the NARS foundation and actually finished the entire bottle. The only reason I didn’t purchase another bottle is because the foundation would constantly rub off on everything including clothes, furniture (I bumped my head on a piece of white furniture and left a mark..eww), and even husband (I think most of the time he wore the foundation more than me). I’m just asking for a foundation that has a little more commitment to staying on my face. Is that too much to ask for?

Are there purchases you regret buying?

  1. Great post, I actually haven't try any of this products so it's nice to know before even attending to do so. For your foundation, do you set with a powder? and are you using silicone primer? I recommend Matchmaster from MAC or Makeup Forever HD both semi-matte and great for oily skin. Definitely set with a mattefying powder and do not use silicone primers everyday. :-)

    1. LOL. I know how you feel. I suck at painting my nails and I'm impatient so I ruin them before they dry. I also regret my nail polish purchases because they never come out the color I think they will. False advertisement!! haha
