From the Runway to the Boardroom

Is it weird if a piece of clothing I’m wearing has had a longer and more intriguing life than me? I find that remarkable and slightly disturbing.

How cool is it that I can own a piece of history but how lame am I that a piece of cloth is more interesting than me. That is certainly the case with this bolero jacket. It may seem like a standard vintage jacket but this piece probably experienced many wild days and nights. That’s because it used to belong to a New York runway model back in the 1950’s! How cool is that?? Can’t you just imagine the go-sees, celebrities, and after-work parties this jacket has attended? It probably rested on the shoulder of Frank Sinatra or casually laid on Humphrey Bogart’s wool jacket. Now its star-studded days are over but it will still enjoy the last few years front and center in the boardroom and office. Not the same crowd it was accustomed to but it will still serve the role of making a young woman feel beautiful, strong, and in control. If I’m lucky, maybe its exciting life will rub off on me. ..we will have to wait and see…
