Is your face melting by midday? Do you find that your
makeup is basically gone by the time you get to work because the blazing
summer sun has melted it off? If so, it sounds like you need the help of some
serious summer beauty products. Luckily for you, I’ve gone through a lot of
trial and error in trying to figure out how to “Beat the Heat’ and keep my makeup fresh. My process is all about prevention. What can I do to stop looking like a
Salvador Dali painting? I prime and set. Below is my routine for going out on a
hot day or evening.
Step 1: Prime Your
Face
It may seem like this is adding a layer to makeup but trust
me, it’s worth it. Primer provides a shield between the makeup and your skin,
but more importantly it gives your makeup something to stick too. Go with a
very light formula like Smashbox Primer's that are also great for oily skin.
Step 2: Prime Your
Eyelids
Just like you primed your face, you should also prime your
eyelids. Eye shadow is the first thing to melt away under the unforgiving
summer sun. Keep your eye shadow bright and in place all day by using UrbanDecay’s Primer Potion. This is my favorite primer because it’s light and
non-greasy. I love using the “Sin” version but they also have the "Original"
formula with no color or shine.
Step 3: Put on Your
Makeup
Once your primer is in place, go ahead and put on your usual
makeup. For foundation I have been using NARS liquid foundation. However, if
you don’t need a lot of coverage, I recommend using a tinted moisturizer like
Laura Mercier who is known for amazing foundation products.
Step 4: Spritz
Setting Spray
Now that you have your foundation, bronzer, blush, eye shadow,
and whatever other makeup you like to wear, it’s time to set it. The setting
spray basically seals your face. This is a magical mist. Imagine a firm hold
hairspray but for your face, minus the stickiness of course. My favorite is
Urban Decay’s All Nighter. It’s a refreshing mist and keeps my makeup in place
for 8+ hours!

I've never used that setting spray before. I use to spray my face with the Evian spray from Sephora... but after 5 years of using it I felt like it no longer worked for me anymore.

I haven't tried the Evian Spray but what's cool about this one is that they also have a DeSlick version for people with oily skin. I'm dying to try it. I have the same issue you have with the Evian spray with my facial cleanser. After awhile I have to switch it out.
DeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
I am a big fan of the smash box face primer and the urban decay eyeshadow primer, but I haven't tried the setting spray. Sounds like its definitely something I need to try!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of Urban Decay products too. Let's just say I lent my cousin the setting spray and I ended up having to buy another one! It's a hit.
