Can you believe it? Iris Focused on Fashion turns six months old
today. Wow, how time flies! Reflecting back on those early days, I’m struck by
how much this baby blog misbehaved – refusing to follow the simplest of
instructions, acting out by posting in outrageous fonts, refusing to stay on
deadline. Alas, this blog has grown up and I’m no longer an intrepid new momma,
we’ve grown up together.

Last Minute Valentine's Day Inspiration
Need some last minute inspiration for tonight? Don’t have
time to go out shopping for a new outfit? Reinvent your Little Black Dress
(LBD) for a sure hit on Valentine’s Day!
Romantic Evening
You are ready to be swept off your feet like a true fairy-tale princess. It will be a romantic evening with the love of
your life (or the flavor of the month, whichever you prefer).
Fashion Tip: Blend sweet, classy, and sexy. Remind him why he loves to brag about you to his boys but also why he wants to take you home to mom. Slip a satin or silk shirt over that LBD and pair with sparkly shoes for some sex appeal that’s not over the top. Add an air kiss and a wink and he will be yours all night long.

Girl’s Night Out
You have no plans to sit at home sulking over a tub of ice
cream. You and your girlfriends find Valentine’s the perfect opportunity to let
loose, show your spunk, and maybe even run into the future hubby.
Fashion Tip: Time to try out your favorite trends! Your friends will truly appreciate your fabulous outfit. Express your style and fierceness by complementing the LBD with eye-popping accessories. Leopard print, chains and big cocktail rings are all fair game. This is not the time to hold back. Celebrate love, even if it’s love between you and your best girlfriends!

My New Year’s Celebration
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s celebration!
This year my friends were kind enough to treat me to some tickets to party with the internationally known DJ Kaskade. So on Friday, I went back home to Miami and attended Kaskade at Liv Nightclub in South Beach. There were dancing bodies in every corner. Gorgeous models, tipsy celebrities, confused tourists, and regular peeps like me. We had a blast jumping, singing, and dancing the night away while anticipating the arrival of the New Year. Plus, how often do I get to dress like I’m about to be in a P. Diddy video?? Alright, maybe that’s not attire I should be excited to wear. Regardless, I rocked it out and got sparkly and sexy to celebrate in South Beach.
After I recovered from that crazy evening, I had a lovely time on the 31st at an intimate dinner with my family at Sustain in Midtown Miami (I highly recommend it!). We sipped wine, ate strawberries, and counted down the seconds to the New Year. A pleasant evening that came to an end with enchanting fireworks going off in the distance. A great way to start the New Year!
What did you do to celebrate?
(They handed out glowing Kaskade dolls at Liv!)
(Complimentary wine and strawberries at Sustain)
(Can't have New Year's without fireworks!)

Rusty Train and Hot Pink
This is my -okay, it’s not that cold in Orlando but I’m still
going to wear a scarf and jacket- outfit. I was obsessed with this romper all
summer because it is so comfortable and can be easily worn during the day and
glammed up at night. However, I have to admit that mid photo shoot I got hot
and had to peel it all off. Regardless, I have no intentions of breaking
my relationship with it this fall, especially since I love it even more now
with the scarf and jacket addition.

Stars and Stripes
This is
my very first post! I wonder if I’ll look back at it 10 years from now and go,
“Holy cow, Iris. What were you thinking?” Let’s hope not.
This is a
fitting outfit for my first post considering what I do for a living. I am a
military contractor and love that I can work side-by-side with such amazing
American heroes. Besides that, I love that this outfit works for the office and
can easily transition to after-work drinks. Enjoy!
